April is the gateway to the summer blockbuster season. Kicking things off is the much delayed, much-anticipated Morbius movie starring Jared Leto. The rest of the month will see a complimentary mixture of big budget action and small independent darlings. Here’s what will be hitting movie screens this month!

MORBIUS | APR. 1

Synopsis: Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.

THE CONTRACTOR | APR. 1

Synopsis: A discharged U.S. Special Forces sergeant, James Harper, risks everything for his family when he joins a private contracting organization.

BETTER NATE THAN NEVER | APR. 1 (DISNEY PLUS)

Synopsis: 13-year-old Nate Foster is an unpopular Midwestern kid who entertains vivid fantasies of becoming a big Broadway musical star. In the meantime, however, Nate can’t even get a decent role in his middle school’s drama productions, getting cast as a tree in the chorus instead of the lead role he craves. However, when he and his best friend Litty mastermind a daring trip to New York City, without their parents’ knowledge, to audition for “Lilo and Stitch: The Musical,” Nate may be on the verge of fulfilling his lifelong dream. But first, he has to overcome a series of comical obstacles that threaten his Broadway adventure with disaster at every farcical turn.

Synopsis: Two robbers steal an ambulance after their heist goes awry.

FATHER STU | APR. 13

Synopsis: Follows the life of Father Stuart Long, a boxer-turned-priest who inspired countless people during his journey from self-destruction to redemption.

FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE | APR. 15

Synopsis: The third installment of the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series which follows the adventures of Newt Scamander.

WE’RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD’S FAIR | APR. 15 (LIMITED)

Synopsis: Alone in her attic bedroom, teenager Casey becomes immersed in an online role-playing horror game, wherein she begins to document the changes that may or may not be happening to her.

THE BAD GUYS | APR. 22

Synopsis: Several reformed yet misunderstood criminal animals attempt to become good, with some disastrous results along the way.

THE NORTHMAN | APR. 22

Synopsis: From visionary director Robert Eggers comes The Northman, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder.

THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT | APR. 22 (LIMITED)

Synopsis: A cash-strapped Nicolas Cage agrees to make a paid appearance at a billionaire super fan’s birthday party but is really an informant for the CIA since the billionaire fan is a drug kingpin and gets cast in a Tarantino movie.
