The Eternals is shaping up to feature one of Marvel’s most impressive casts yet.
Courtesy of The Wrap, Salma Hayek is currently in negotiations to join the upcoming Marvel Studios project. If the talks go through, the actress will join an already stellar cast cast in Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and Angelina Jolie.
The Rider director Chloe Zhao is directing the film. Matthew and Ryan Firpo (Ruin) are penning the script. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is producing.
The Eternals were originally created by Jack Kirby, a real-life comic book god, in 1976. They are a race of ancient humans created by god-like entities known as the Celestials. (Celestials have already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most notably in the form of Kurt Russell as Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.)
The story of the film will focus on the female Eternal known as Sersi, reports the outlet. No further details are known at this point.
A release date for the film is not yet known; however, with Spider-Man: Far From Home now in theaters, Marvel will likely be announcing which of their upcoming projects will fill their previously announced release dates. And when they do, it’s safe to assume that The Eternals will be one of those films.
