The cast for Marvel Studios’ developing Black Widow solo adventure is shaping up to be something special.

Coming off her Oscar-nominated turn in The Favourite, Rachel Weisz is reportedly in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in what is being described as a key role in the upcoming Black Widow standalone movie.

This news comes not long after reports began circulating that Stranger Things and Hellboy star David Harbour was also in negotiations to join the film.

Scarlett Johansson will return as Natasha Romanova, the Russian S.H.I.E.L.D. agent whom we first met in Iron Man 2.

Cate Shortland is directing from a script by Jac Schaeffer. Not much is known about the story at this point.

In addition to garnering critical praise and an Academy Award nomination for The Favourite, Rachel Weisz won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in The Constant Gardner in 2005.
