The nominations for the 75th annual Directors Guild Awards are officially in. Noteworthy picks this year include Joseph Kosinski, who was nominated for directing Top Gun: Maverick. Everything Everywhere All at Once directing duo the Daniels were also recognized for their achievement this year.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that there were zero women filmmakers nominated for the marquee award. While that is disappointing, it’s worth pointing out that women directors make up four of the five first-time theatrical film nominees.

If you’re someone who put money on the eventual Academy Awards winners, then you might want to pay attention to these awards. The DGA is a strong predictor of Oscar success historically, missing the eventual Best Director winner only eight times in 74 years.

Winners will be announced during the guild’s awards ceremony February 18 at the Beverly Hilton.
