Spyglass Media Group’s upcoming Hellraiser remake has already wrapped production, but we are just now learning some key details about the project. Though it was heavily reported to be the case in the past, producers have confirmed that the film is headed for Hulu streaming sometime next year. Additionally, Sense8 and The L Word: Generation Q actress Jamie Clayton has been cast as the new Pinhead. The role was made famous by Doug Bradley, who portrayed the Hellpriest in the original Hellraiser as well as its first seven sequels.
Hellraiser is based on the horror novella The Hellbound Heart from esteemed genre writer Clive Barker and focuses on a mysterious puzzle box called the Lament Configuration, which unlocks new universes of pleasure and pain for the eager and unsuspecting victims who solve it. Barker himself wrote and directed 1987 feature adaptation and is attached to the new film as a producer.
David Brucker (The Night House) is directing from a script by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski with story credit going to David Goyer.
The film is set to release sometime in 2022, which marks the 35th anniversary of the original film.
