Viva Variety, Eva Longoria is set to direct Flamin’ Hot, a biopic about Richard Montanez, the man who invented the spicy Flamin’ Hot Cheetos for Fox Searchlight.
The film will follow Montanez from his humble roots as the son of an immigrant who grew up picking grapes in the fields of Southern California before landing a gig as a janitor at Frito Lay. It was here where Montanez came up with the idea of the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto and subsequently launched an entire sub-brand of munchies.
Longoria will direct from a script by Lewis Colick (Charlie St. Cloud, October Sky). Longoria is also set to direct and star in 24/7 for Universal, where she will play Kerry Washington.
