Paramount is set to expand their G.I. Joe cinematic universe.
Courtesy of Variety, Henry Golding is set to headline Snake Eyes, the upcoming spin-off of the studio’s previous G.I. Joe films. The Crazy Rich Asians star will portray the titular hero, a silent-but-deadly ninja who carries out top-secret missions for the G.I. Joe anti-terrorist organization.
The previous two films in the franchise, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation— the latter of which starred Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis– grossed $678 million at the worldwide box office.
Robert Schwentke is set to direct from a script penned by Beauty and the Beast screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Golding recently appeared in last year’s A Simple Favor and can next be seen in the upcoming Christmas rom-com Last Christmas alongside Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke.
