Holiday 2019 is set to feature yet another Black Christmas.
Per Deadline, Princess Bride and Saw star Cary Elwes has jumped on to the upcoming Black Christmas remake from Blumhouse Productions. Details about Elwes’s role were not disclosed, however the report states that the Stranger Things 3 actor will have a main part in the film.
Sophia Takal is directing from a script she co-wrote with April Wolfe.
Check out the official synopsis for Black Christmas:
“Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by an unknown stalker. But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s young women aren’t willing to become hapless victims as they mount a fight to the finish.”
Black Christmas is still slated for release on December 13, 2019 with principal photography currently underway in New Zealand. The release date comes one week shy of the original film’s 45th anniversary.
Speaking of which, the original Black Christmas was directed by Bob Clark, who also went on to direct another holiday classic in A Christmas Story (1983). Black Christmas was remade in 2006 from director Glen Morgan and went on to gross over $21.5 million.
Elwes can currently be seen in the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
