Amy Pascal is moving on from Sony Pictures, her longtime home. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pascal has penned a new first-look deal with Universal under her Pascal Pictures banner.
*A first-look deal essentially means that if Amy Pascal or anyone at Pascal Pictures has an idea for a film or show, then they must present said idea to Universal before pitching it to other studios.
The move comes as Pascal and Sony’s producing deal comes to an end. She originally signed the deal four years ago after stepping down as Chairman of Sony Pictures, a title Pascal held for three decades.
Amy Pascal’s latest project was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won the Best Animated Feature Oscar earlier this year and webbed up $375 million at the worldwide box office.
Pascal’s next producing credit will be Spider-Man: Far From Home followed by Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.
