More Disney+ news incoming, this time from Variety:
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye joins the expanding roster of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to land their own limited series on the forthcoming Disney+ streaming service, which the Mouse House is developing to compete with Netflix.
Not a whole lot is known about what the story will be; however, Variety does mention:
“The project is said to be an adventure series in which Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Barton. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers.”
Both Marvel and Disney denied commenting.
It has already been reported that other limited series were being developed around Falcon and Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch and Vision and even Loki. The stars from the films are expected to be reprising their roles for the series, which are expected to run about six to eight episodes each. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is producing and the budgets for the Marvel shows are expected to be significantly greater than your typical television fare.
Disney is expected to provide more details about their Disney+ service during an investor call on Thursday. The service itself is expected to launch sometime during the fourth quarter of 2019.
