Sony announced late last month that a fourth Hotel Transylvania film is in the works.
Per The Wrap, the fourth Hotel Transylvania film is slated for release on December 22, 2021.
The first two Hotel Transylvania films both released in September and the third opened in the middle of summer last year. At this point, the series has proven it can open at pretty much any time of the year. Plus Sony has had recent success putting out films in December, including Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
And if you are asking yourself “Another Hotel Transylvania film, really?,” know this: we are talking about Sony Animation’s most lucrative franchise, thus far having grossed over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
While the 2021 holiday window has yet to come into full form, we do know that “HT4” will be competing with James Cameron’s long-in-development third Avatar film as well as Universal’s adaptation of the Wizard of Oz musical Wicked.
