Jason Blum recently confirmed that he is indeed trying to get going a sequel to last year’s Halloween and now he has his writer.

According to Collider, Blumhouse is in negotiations with Scott Teems to pen the script for Halloween 2. The gig keeps Teems on Jason Blum’s payroll and in the horror realm. The writer recently adapted a pair of Stephen King novels for Blumhouse in Firestarter and The Breathing Method. Fun factoid: Doctor Strange‘s own Scott Derrickson is attached to direct the latter.

Blumhouse made no comment.

Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are all expected to return for the untitled follow-up. OG Halloween director John Carpenter will once again executive produce. No word yet on if David Gordon Green will return to direct.

There is no clear timetable for the project, although Collider points out that Blumhouse has an untitled horror movie slated for release on Oct. 18, 2019. It is unlikely that this will be Halloween 2 as the film still has a ways to go before it even begins shooting.

What do you make of this news? Are you hopeful for a Halloween sequel? Who would you like to see direct the movie? Hit me up with your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!
