Chucky, the infamous killer doll from the Child’s Play franchise, has been living on the small screen since 2016’s Curse of Chucky in a series of direct-to-digital feature films. Now he it looks like he is moving in with Syfy for his own television series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the in-development show landed at Syfy following a multiple-network bidding war. Original Child’s Play creator Don Mancini tweeted about the news:

“The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

Universal Pictures has an unrelated Child’s Play remake slated for theatrical release later this year. Up until now, it has been one of the rare horror properties to continue its original continuity without getting a remake. Don Mancini will continue his original, uninterrupted vision for the character through this television series.

The news comes off Syfy’s recent cancellation of the critically acclaimed horror anthology series Channel Zero, which ran for four seasons.
