The road to the Oscars is still being paved by the nominations of the guilds.
The Costume Designer Guild Awards have officially announced their nominees for their 21st annual awards ceremony. The nominations span the worlds of both television and film. For the purposes of this blog, I have chosen only to include the nominations centered around the world of film. In this case, that makes for three specific awards. Again, the Costume Designers Guild, like all the other guilds that make up the entertainment industry, are the ones who put forth the nominees that we see at the Oscars. Once those nominees are put forth by each guild, then the entire voting body of the Academy gets to vote for the respective winners.
And the nominees for this year’s Costume Designer Awards are…
Excellence in Contemporary Film
“Crazy Rich Asians” (Mary E. Vogt )
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” (Michele Clapton)
“Ocean’s 8” (Sarah Edwards)
