In a darkened movie theater in 1988 is where unsuspecting moviegoers first met the maniacal killer doll named Charles Lee Ray, better know as Chucky. Thirty years and six sequels later, fans will have no further to look than their own television set to get reacquainted.
According to Bloody Disgusting, original Child’s Play creator Don Mancini and series producer David Kirschner are currently developing a television series based on the cult favorite IP.
While Mancini and Kerschner did not divulge much in the way of story, they did discuss a general direction for the series. According to the report, the intention is to follow through with eight hourlong episodes that were “deliberately” set up at the end of the last film, Cult of Chucky. In other words, the show will be a direct continuation of the canon and not a reimagining of the brand. What’s more is that it will be the darkest iteration of the Child’s Play franchise yet.
The duo also confirmed that Brad Dourif will return once again to provide the iconic voice for everybody’s favorite Good Guy.
